One day we will dance in celebration, but until then, we will dance for a cure. The Downingtown STEM Academy is hosting its 6th annual dance marathon to benefit Cure4Cam in hopes that one day, we will host a celebration.
What is Cam-A-Thon?
Cam-A-Thon is a student-run philanthropy event that benefits the local pediatric cancer organization, Cure4Cam. We are committed to enhancing the lives of children and families impacted by childhood cancer. Our mission is to raise money to provide emotional and financial support, spread awareness and ensure funding for critical research, all in pursuit of a cure. The event is a 12 hour dance marathon featuring a 12 hour dance floor with a DJ, Zumba, karaoke, and lip sync battles. In addition to our many dancing options, we offer moon bounces, yard games, and numerous mini sports tourney's.
Who is Cam?
On October 25, 2011, Cameron Evans began a race which was about to change his life. Within days of completing the cross country race (featured left) he learned that the flu-like symptoms he was suffering were the result of leukemia, the most common form of childhood cancer. What started as a middle school championship race, soon became a race for his life.
Where does our money go?
All donations to Cam-A-Thon go to Cure4Cam, a local organization that raises awareness for pediatric cancer. Not only does Cure4Cam seek to raise awareness, but the organization also financially supports the development of new and more humane therapies for children with these diseases.
